What is the best itinerary?
Saint Jean de Monts is a gbeach resort of Vendée, south of Brittany.
BY CAR
If you come from Northern Europe, we recommend you to travel via the cities of Nantes, Machecoul and Challans. Remember that many French holidaymakers are on the roads on Saturdays and you might be blocked in traffic jams. During the first week of August, try to avoid coastal roads, as they can be very busy.
The campsite GPS coordinates are N 46° 48' 27" - W 2° 06' 18".
The campsite is located on the road to Notre Dame de Monts (D38). If you arrive into Saint Jean de Monts from Challans - as suggested - head towards "Noirmoutier par le Pont". To do so, turn right at the first round-about, carry on on the main road straight over the second round-about, turn right at the third round-about. Then, you will be on the right road.
Local camping sites are usually signposted, but these signs are very small. So do not drive too fast or you could miss them.
BY TRAIN
The closest railway station is in Challans. During summer, a regular daily bus service serves the 11 mile journey from Challans to St Jean de Monts.
