Saint Jean’s fires are unmissable events in June at Saint Jean de Monts, the famous small seaside town.
Generosity, sharing and conviviality is the motto. You quickly feel the warm welcoming of its 7650 inhabitants and traders.
Vendee atmosphere
The tone is set every morning at the Halles, near the church, where you can find Vendée’s specialties, brioche, caillebotte, préfou, mogette, without forgetting the famous trouspinette (local wine).
After enjoying the market's delicacies, the pub where you can chat with the local people would be glad to welcome you.
The beach
Saint Jean de Monts is also, of course, famous for the beach... With 5 miles of sandy beaches, there is plenty to do... Basking, sunbathing, swimming, playing, it is up to you !
Did you know that Vendée is called "Côte de Lumière", i.e. "Coast of Light" ? This nickname comes from the sunshine which is the same as of the French Riviera.
But unlike the South of France, Vendée offers salty air and high tides for fishing or for sailing thanks to the many harbours and sailing schools.
Walking, cycling, hiking, spa, tree climbing ....
There is a lot to do in Saint Jean de Monts : cycling (16 miles of bicycle path), walking, horse riding, golfing, relaxing in the spa center, watching horse races, climbing to tree-tops or swimming in the new pool.
The place to be!
After a busy day, relax by walking down the aisles of the pedestrian street and evening market.
Saint Jean de Monts is the place that makes you forget the worries of everyday’s life, the place where you feel good, where you can breathe and take your time...
